Tractor Safety

Develop the knowledge and safe work practices needed to operate tractors and farm equipment with greater awareness and confidence. This seminar focuses on proper operating procedures, equipment awareness, and recognizing conditions that can create safety risks on the farm.

Participants will learn about power take-off (PTO) systems and implements, safe hitching and hauling practices, roadway driving, trailers and attachments, and how to recognize and respond to unsafe conditions and accidents.

Learning Outcomes

Explain how power take-off (PTO) systems and common tractor implements operate.
Recognize safe practices for hitching and hauling.
Apply basic safety practices when operating tractors on roadways.
Identify safety considerations when working with trailers and attachments.
Recognize unsafe conditions that may lead to accidents or injuries.
Apply safe work practices to help protect themselves and others while working around tractors and farm equipment.
Respond appropriately to common tractor- and farm-equipment-related accidents.
