Tool and Die Apprenticeship
The Tool and Die Apprenticeship is an employer-sponsored, hands-on training program that prepares you to become a skilled journey-level tool and die maker. You’ll learn to build, maintain, and repair precision tools, dies, fixtures, and other components used in manufacturing and mass production. Through a combination of paid on-the-job training and related classroom instruction, you’ll develop skills in machining, measurement, blueprint reading, manufacturing processes, and precision problem-solving. This apprenticeship is a strong fit for people who enjoy mechanical technology, working with their hands, and producing highly accurate parts and tooling.

Who pays for the apprenticeship?
Apprenticeship tuition may be paid by the employer or the apprentice. Payment responsibility is determined by the terms of the apprenticeship contract with the sponsoring employer.

How Do I Apply for the Tool and Die Apprenticeship?
Step 1
Find a Sponsoring Employer
You must have a sponsoring employer before you can receive an apprenticeship contract or begin related instruction at Lakeshore.
Talk with your employer about your interest in becoming a tool and die apprenticeship. Your employer will then work with the local Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards Apprenticeship Training Representative (ATR) to begin the process.

Step 2
Complete the Apprenticeship Contract
You, your sponsoring employer, and the Apprenticeship Training Representative will work together to establish the requirements and details of your apprenticeship contract.
Step 3
Receive Your Contract and Begin Classes
Once all requirements are complete, you will receive a Wisconsin Apprentice Contract and be invited to begin your related instruction at Lakeshore College.
