Accessibility and Accommodations

Accommodation Services

Accommodation Services partners with students, faculty, and staff to create an accessible learning environment where all students have equal opportunity to participate in Lakeshore College programs, services, and activities.

Accommodations are confidential and outcome-neutral. They do not modify curriculum or provide an advantage or guarantee of success in a course or program.

Students with Disabilities

The Americans with Disabilities Act (ADA) of 1990, the ADA Amendments Act of 2008, and Section 504 of the Rehabilitation Act of 1973 prohibit discrimination based on disability.

Accommodation Services works with students to develop an ADA Accommodation Plan.

  • Accommodation plans are valid for one semester
  • Plans should be established prior to the start of each semester

Students Who Are Pregnant or Parenting

Title IX is a federal civil rights law that prohibits discrimination based on sex in educational programs, services, and activities, including pregnancy and parenting status.

Pregnancy includes adoption, false pregnancy, abortion, and miscarriage.

Parenting includes situations involving a child with a terminal illness, ongoing treatment, or the loss of a child.

  • Title IX accommodation plans are valid for one semester
  • Plans should be established as soon as possible
