Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship
The Maintenance Technician Apprenticeship is an employer-sponsored training program that prepares you to maintain, troubleshoot, and repair mechanical and electrical systems in industrial manufacturing environments. Through a combination of paid on-the-job training and related classroom instruction at Lakeshore, you’ll develop the technical and problem-solving skills needed to keep machinery, equipment, and facility systems operating safely and efficiently. This apprenticeship is a strong fit for people who enjoy hands-on work, diagnosing equipment problems, and applying mechanical and electrical knowledge in a manufacturing setting.

Who pays for the apprenticeship?
Apprenticeship tuition may be paid by the employer or the apprentice. Payment responsibility is determined by the terms of the apprenticeship contract with the sponsoring employer.

How Do I Apply for the Maintenance Technicians Apprenticeship?
Step 1
Find a Sponsoring Employer
You must have a sponsoring employer before you can receive an apprenticeship contract or begin related instruction at Lakeshore.
Talk with your employer about your interest in becoming a maintenance technicians apprentice. Your employer will then work with the local Bureau of Apprenticeship Standards Apprenticeship Training Representative (ATR) to begin the process.

Step 2
Complete the Apprenticeship Contract
You, your sponsoring employer, and the Apprenticeship Training Representative will work together to establish the requirements and details of your apprenticeship contract.
Step 3
Receive Your Contract and Begin Classes
Once all requirements are complete, you will receive a Wisconsin Apprentice Contract and be invited to begin your related instruction at Lakeshore College.
